Visiting a church can sometimes be a little overwhelming. If this is your first time as a guest, you may have lots of questions such as: What time is service? Is there praise & worship? Where can I park? Are there classes for children?  While we may not be able to answer all of them in this section, we hope it will give you helpful details about what you can expect!

When was Zion Church Ministries established?
Our church was founded in 1895. You can read more about the history under the "About Us" page of this site.

How many services do you have and at what time?
We have one Sunday morning service, at 10:00 a.m. Our Church School begins at 9:00 a.m.

Wednesday evenings we hold Prayer Service from 7:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Following Prayer Service, we hold Disciples’ Hour (Bible Study) from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.

What are your services like?
If you love gospel music, both old school and new school, our worship teams, choirs, musicians, and dancers encourage you to participate in the worship experience through singing, clapping, and lifting your hands. People praise God with their hands up and down, with their eyes open and closed, singing loudly or just swaying back and forth with the music! We are led by the Holy Spirit to worship God in Spirit and in Truth and we encourage and support Spirit-filled worship. Our desire is not to provide entertainment, but to draw you into fellowship in a culturally relevant way, while worshiping the exciting and awesome God that we serve! We want to do what blesses God and brings people closer to Him.

Do you have a nursery or other childcare services available?
No, we do not have nursery or childcare service. However, we hold Children’s Church for children ages 4-11 every Sunday except for the 1st Sunday of each month (Communion Sunday). Children’s Church is held in the lower auditorium during the same time as the Sunday morning Worship Service. Our Children’s Church instructors are educators who provide the youth with a secure, caring, and spiritual environment where they can participate and enjoy Church in a format they understand.

Are your facilities accessible for people with physical disabilities?
Yes, while our church is housed in an older building we completed a major renovation in 2018 an are fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
. There is a lift that allows anyone with mobility issues to easily access the sanctuary and lower auditorium level(s) of the building.

Do I have to dress up?
No, you don’t. We encourage people to dress comfortably. For some, that may mean dressing up, but for most it simply means wearing casual clothes. We simply ask that you dress modestly and decently. We want everyone to come, be comfortable, and enjoy worshipping and learning about God together.

How can I get a copy of the Sermon?
We record and videotape all messages on CDs and DVDs, and make the CDs available immediately after worship. DVDs are available the following Sunday. You can order sermons, sermon series, and workshops by request at the Audio/Video Ministry Office.

How does your church help those in need?
Zion Church Ministries is committed to community transformation. We extend ourselves into the local community in many ways, such as hosting an Annual Community-in-Unity Block Party and a Community Thanksgiving Dinner. In addition, we provide scholarships to students through our Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Breakfast, we teach non-English speakers the English language through our ESL program, and we maintain a food pantry for emergency situations for individuals in our community who are in need of assistance. Our purpose for serving those in need is to bring glory to God whenever we can. When people see God’s love exemplified through His people in practical ways, it proves that God’s love can prevail over selfishness and indifference. Our goal is to be a light in the community. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16). We are a Christian community, within a community, that is determined to transform the community in which we serve.

Do I have to be a member of Zion Church Ministries to schedule a wedding?
No. Our sanctuary is available for weddings, and our lower auditorium is available for receptions and rehearsal dinners. To schedule your special day, contact our Church Office at 617-389-8357 or
Office@ZionChurchMinistries.com.
